Olesija Saue - Personal Branding

I’ve been absent from social media for over a month, and many started to wonder, “Where are you? Is everything all right?” The truth is, I did it again.

I spread myself too thin and pushed too hard during the autumn. Weekly 1:1 coachings and workshops, managing multiple clients accounts full-time, building a team, expanding our international presence, launching a new project, and, on top of that, finishing a book. My superpower- Maximizer definitely overdid it this time:) My relentless pursuit of various projects led to a fragmented focus, increased decision fatigue, and compromised my ability to achieve flow—the very state I needed for optimal performance.

The real wake-up call came after I completed my book. The day I sent it off to the publisher, a sense of accomplishment was quickly overshadowed by a stark reality—I fell ill. It was as if my body was saying enough is enough. My ambitious end-of-year to-do list remained untouched, a stark reminder of my physical and mental limits.

January brought a long-overdue vacation. I slept 12 hours a day for two weeks and didn’t open my computer once. In fact, I was so mentally exhausted that I didn’t even open a book. So, I let myself just be and enjoy time with my loved ones, sun, beautiful places, and lazy long days. This wasn’t just a break but a necessary retreat for recovery. It led me to an important lesson for this year: the need to tame my maximizer.

This experience has taught me the value of balancing ambition with self-care. In our drive to achieve, we often overlook our bodies’ signals, mistaking them for hurdles rather than warning signs. But I’ve learned that our well-being is the foundation of our success. Ignoring it can lead to burnout and ultimately hinder our ability to achieve our goals.

So let’s use this new year’s “fresh start effect” not only to set ambitious goals but also to commit to sustainable practices that prioritize our health and well-being. True success is achieved not just by what we accomplish but also by how we sustain our journey.
